New Arrival!!!  Tyr,  14 year old recently gelded Shire.  Full name Fox Vale's T'Yeer Na N Oge.  His name is Gaelic for the land of eternal youth.  We simply call him Tyr.  Tyr has no training and is currently strating his under saddle work.  Very gentle and always mannerly, we expect him to excel and learn quickly.  Gelding was performed on June 10, 2010 and went well with only minor complications.  Tyr will not be availble until healed from gelding, fully trained, and socialized well in groups.   Follow his story on our "In Training" page, coming soon!

In Training, Not Available!  My care is Sponsored by L. Pulford, Thank you!

Mattie,  14 year old Belgian mare and 17 hands tall.  Rescued from New Holland May 10, 2010.  Incredibly affectionate.  Reported broke to drive, but no driving scars present.  In extended quarantine for Shipping fever, will begin under saddle training once recovered.

In Quarantine.  My care is kindly Sponsored by J. Lacetera!  Thank you!

sugar1_1.JPG

Sugar, 4 year old Haflinger/Paint cross mare.  Rescued May 10, 2010 from New Holland.  About 14.2 hands tall, and 14 hands wide!   This mare is grossly oveweight, but is a total houdini at removing a muzzle!  Sugar rode at the auction quietly in a halter and was sound.  We have since discovered she has some lameness issues in her stifle.  Currently in extended quarantine with Shipping fever.

In Quarantine.   My care is kindly Sponsored by T. Simmons, Thank you!

P5150161_0.JPG

Alistair, 3 year old Clydesdale 16 hand gelding.  Unbroke, with little handling and severe hoof neglect.  Alistair will require some time to get gentled, gain several hundred pounds, and he will need several months of rehabilition with his farrier care.  He will be started under saddle when his rehab is complete.

Adoption Fee being Determined.  My care is kindly Sponsored by P. Hartz, Thank you!

martinipregannouncement.JPG

Martini is a Percheron cross mare rescued from New Holland December 28, 2009. SURPRISE... She's Pregnant!!!!  She's opinionated, feisty, and absolutely adorable. While she'll stand forever for a good scratch, under saddle she's ready to move and is sensitive to the slightest change in her rider's position. This girl is definitely not for a beginner, but despite her quirks, we love her anyway.  Currently in under saddle training to resolve some of her issues.  Martini will remain in light training through September or until she becomes too uncomfortable.

Not Available until Foaled and Weaned.  My care is kindly Sponosred by S. Drillock!  Thank you!

Returned!  Kanin,  7 year old 15.3 hand Belgian/Paint Gelding.  Returned from his adopters, Kanin is currently being re-evaluated under saddle and is back in training.  We have had issues catching him, but otherwise he has been a solid citizen and is a very hard worker under saddle.   Kanin is a sensitive horse and is not for a beginner.  Training geared for the more advanced rider:  Team Penning, Roping, CompetitiveTrails.

Adoption Fee to be Determined.

Major, @ 20 year old Belgian/Appaloosa Cross gelding.  Slight lameness and COPD (also called "Heaves") will limit Major to very light work at mostly a walk and under 45 minutes.  Would be a nice horse for a smaller adult or a child to follow along on the trail.  We are continuing his evaluation, but so far he appears very quiet, but herd bound to his buddies.  Major has required extensive corrective farrier care.

Available for Foster.  My care is kindly Sponsored by J. Sharp, Thank you!

P5150169_1.JPG

Jameson , 17 year old Draft Cross Gelding.  RECOVERING FROM NEGLECT.  This horse gave someone an incredible career as a top-notch Eventing horse, and they rewarded his age and wisdom with indifference and neglect.  Jameson came to us through the hands of concerned local horsemen, who finally got him channeled safely to Gentle Giants.  With rehab and proper care, Jameson should make a full recovery and return to his former glory.  Watch his improvement on his page!

My care is kindly Sponsored by D. Pfau, Thank you!

chopperhug_0.jpg

Chopper, 14 year old 13.3 hand Haflinger mare.  Reported to be used as a cart horse to log firewood, we were very excited to discover that Chopper is also broke to ride!!!  A flashy horse with excellent movement, we will be training her for a new life as a superstar in the show ring.  A little on the sassy side, she earned the name Chopper.

Adoption Fee $750, will increase with miles.
My care is kindly Sponsored by D. Pfau, Thank you!

honeyjoinup_0.JPG

Honey, 3 year old Belgian Filly.  From the "Pennsylvania 9".  This girl is CUTE!!!  Should mature to between 16-16.3 hands tall.  This little girl is a curious love bug with a great temperament and a really nice mind.  Learns quick and a nice, level headed horse.  Honey is started under saddle and is riding walk/trot and will be starting trails in August.

Adoption Fee $650.  My care is kindly Sponsored by K. Kolos!  Thank you!

cricketgroomed_0.jpg

Cricket, 2 1/2 - 3 yo 15 hand Belgian colt (gelded 5/20/09). Part of the "Pennsylvania 9", very malnourished and stunted. Cricket is sweet and likes attention, and is an incredibly fast learner.  He has already mastered: trailer loading, tying, bathing, ground driving, rein pressure, and tacking.  As soon as his body catches up to his mind, he's ready to ride. Vet is uncertain how much growth will occur with proper nutrition, but he's gained 4 inches since his arrival and several hundred pounds.  One of the sweetest, calmest horses you could ever meet. Cricket is currently being fostered in Berryville, VA.

Adoption Fee $400.  My care is Sponsored by C. Mohr, Thank you!

DSC02038.JPG

Gabriel, our infamous fallen angel.  19 hands of mischief and mayhem describes this boy well.  On one hand he's very sweet and in your pocket, then the next moment a devilish imp.  An accomplished show driver and an experienced trail rider, Gabriel is still not for the inexperienced nor the faint of heart.  Ringbone limits performance, otherwise this guy would be a world class fox hunter.  12 years old.

Available for Foster to right person.
