Cricket

crickettraining.jpg Cricket was one of the worst affected "Pennsylvania 9" horses. Starved to the point of having his growth severely stunted, Cricket arrived to us as a 3 year old stallion... yet he was the size of an 8 month old foal. He is now gelded, and has grown leaps and bounds.  With the hard work of our dedicated vets, and the help of Equine Nutritionist Arlene Atkins (FCA, Frederick) we hope to get Cricket back some of the time he has lost. He has already topped 15.1 hands, and continues to grow.  We feel it would be fair to anticipate he'll finish off at a hearty, wide, 16 hands of short stockiness.

Cricket is super friendly and very affectionate. He loves attention and he loves to learn new things. His small stature limits the amount we can currently do with him. Cricket is an eager student and so far he: leads, ties, bathes, stands for farrier, tacks and wears a saddle, ground drives, and trailer loads! In his mind, there is no such thing as "too much attention". He is excited to work and enjoys his training sessions. His mind is already ready for a rider, we just need to give his body time to catch up!

This is Cricket when he was first seized from a home of neglect and starvation.  He was riddled with parasites, lice, and mange.  He was several hundred pounds underweight, and had never socialized with other horses.  Cricket is now a welcome wagon who is friends with everyone, even the farm dogs.

Adoption Fee $400.
